Once, Guagnano had a heart made from the dominant passion of our grandparents, tenacious winegrowers capable of writing important pages of a story entitled “Negroamaro”. Not a story like all the others: in fact, it captures the hard work and spirit of sacrifice of people born and raised in a strip of southern Italy, where everyday life often tended to blend with eternity. A story that is easy to listen to, where you can still hear the screeching of wheels along the mule tracks and the indistinct voices among the vineyards marking the boundary between night and day.
More than eighty years later, the same spirit of sacrifice and the same passion still pulse within us with the same strength and tenacity. Thanks to this passion, since 2002 Gianvito, Carlo and Franco – grandchildren of those same tireless winegrowers – have been committed, after saving the ancient Negroamaro vineyards that belonged to their ancestors from abandonment, to writing a new chapter every day in this long and fascinating story that they decided to call “Feudi di Guagnano”.
