Carlo, Franco and Gianvito welcome you to Feudi di Guagnano, in the land of Negroamaro, in the heart of Salento.
Wine tasting is a unique and extraordinary experience when it takes place directly in the winemaker’s cellar. Slowly, you discover its nuances, aromas and characteristics and, above all, its story.
Through our different wine experiences, you will discover where Negroamaro, one of Puglia’s most important native grape varieties, is born. You will visit the organic vineyard saved from the development of photovoltaic fields, walk among the sun-drenched Malvasia Nera di Lecce vineyards and discover the story behind Nero di Velluto, one of the most awarded and renowned wines of Feudi di Guagnano.
La Marenna
The Salento word “Marenna”, coming from the old Neapolitan dialect, means afternoon snack. The origin of the name is connected to the sea and to the mariners, since one of the main ingredients of “la Marenna” was the anchovies cured in brine.
However, the peasant meaning was different, since “la Marenna” was a sort of fast and frugal breakfast that people used to have in the shade of a high tree or in the so called “pagghiara”, an ancient rural building made with stones. “La Marenna” was usually prepared with the mariners’ ancient bread, that is the “frisa”, or with a slice of durum wheat bread, both seasoned with small tomatoes (the hanged yellow ones in winter), dried vegetables, such as marrows, aubergines, oregano and, on demand, with salted anchovies and spring onions. A good olive oil was the final ingredient.La Marenna consists of the selection of cured meats and cheese in our tasting room paired to some Puglia bakery products.
WHAT THE EXPERIENCE INCLUDES
During the wine tasting which takes place in the barrel cellar in Guagnano and which consists of the tasting of 4 among the most important wines of the winery will take place the explanation of the cultivation and vinification methods of the wines that are object of the tasting. The experience is enriched with anecdotes, stories and curiosities, such as the one on Leonardo da Vinci’s “cask-filler”.

The “Signor Negroamaro” experience includes a tasting of 4 of the winery’s most important wines, paired with traditional Puglian baked products such as tarallini, friselle and other local specialities.

Let's Drink It Strange
WHAT THE EXPERIENCE INCLUDES
The “Let’s Drink It Strange” experience includes a tasting of 4 of the winery’s most important wines paired with the Marenna, a platter of local cured meats and cheeses.
The tasting takes place in special settings and locations selected together with the customer, offering a different and original way to discover the wines of Feudi di Guagnano and the Salento area.
From 4 to 8 people: €50.00
